Live Girls! theater announces auditions for THE SECRET AND IMPOSSIBLE LEAGUE OF THE NOÖSPHERE In The Baltimore Plot

Seeking a diverse group of actors to join us for the premiere of Darian Lindle’s new Science Fiction series, commissioned and developed by Live Girls! THE BALTIMORE PLOT is the first in a series of stories introducing a secret society sailing in and out of space/time in a sentient airship. Caught out of time in the Noösphere, where reality is formed and destroyed through the power of Ideas, Nicola Tesla, Ava Lovelace, and Lord Byron discover that someone is dismantling human history. The league will swindle con artists, employ Pinkertons, and pose as secessionists to prevent the assassination of President-elect Abraham Lincoln before he can even take office. Though many of the characters are inspired by historical figures, we are not limiting casting to the race or gender of the real person. We are creating a diverse ensemble and looking for actors that can create the essence of the character, not do impressions. This is a non-equity show, stipend will be provided for all artists.

An initial workshop of the script will take place early September with full rehearsals beginning at the beginning of October.

THE SECRET AND IMPOSSIBLE LEAGUE OF THE NOOSPHERE is the result of conversations between director Meghan Arnette and playwright Darian Lindle about theatre, science fiction, identity, the female voice, and the power of serial storytelling. From those conversations came the concept of the NoöSphere, an adjacent reality created by Ideas. Like most Steampunk, this is a scientific romance. This project was commissioned by Live Girls! through the Layer Cake Development program and will be produced in partnership with Theatre Off Jackson in December of 2017.
CASTING BREAKDOWN

ADA is a British mathematician, writer, computer programmer, and founding member of the League. She enjoys precision and logic. 30s-40s.
KATE is an incredibly competent and non-conforming young American woman: a con woman, private detective, spy. 20s-30s.
BYRON is regarded as one of the greatest British poets. He is prone to fits of wit and melancholy. This role is cast.
NIKOLA is a Serbian-American physicist, inventor, electrical engineer, mechanical engineer, visionary and futurist. He’s a bit of a recluse. Age range: open.
LEAH is an American con woman who has taken Kate under her wing. She always wants to have the upper hand. Ruthless and resourceful. 30s-40s.
MARY-CELESTE is the voice of the ship that travels through time (The NoöSphere). She is a ghost ship with personality. This role is cast.
PINKERTON is a Scottish American detective and spy, he created the Pinkerton National Detective Agency. He is a no-nonsense believer in law and justice for all. 30s-50s.
CHARLES is an English polymath: best remembered for originating the idea of a programmable computer. He doesn’t believe in limitations. 40s-60s.
LINCOLN, the President-Elect, he was elected without winning a single southern state. A humble and intelligent man, he has trouble believing anyone cares enough about him to want to kill him. Of dignified stature. Age range: open.
WILKES is a Southerner and a frustrated actor, living in the shadow of his more popular brother. He is desperate for fame at any cost. Looks remarkably like Byron. 30s-40s.
