Layer Cake Workshop Readings November 2018
LG! is proud to present public readings of 2 works in progress that are on the way to full productions soon, Raisins in a Glass of Milk 2019 and the second episode of The Secret and Impossible League of the Noosphere.
Cake will be served after each reading!

All readings are FREE, donations accepted at the door.

Raisins in a Glass of Milk is back in action with an entirely new show! Raisins 2019 features new stories, new raisins… in the same old glass of milk. The stories in Raisins 2019 come from candid interviews taking place right now with theater artists of color about their experiences. Performed by an ensemble of POC, Raisins highlights the hilarious, heartbreaking and shocking events they have lived through.
LG! is partnering with creators Lexi Chipman and Maya Burton who have joined our company as producing partners to bring this powerful project to the stage in February 2019. Originally created in 2016 the first version of Raisins in a Glass of Milk was shared around the country in multiple venues. Come get a sneak peek and help shape the new version November 10th!

THE SECRET AND IMPOSSIBLE LEAGUE OF THE NOÖSPHERE is science fiction inspired by real historical people and events. Commission by Live Girls! and fresh off the success of 2018’s first episode The Baltimore Plot, playwright Darian Lindle is currently crafting the next adventure for the infamous League caught out of time in the Noösphere, where reality is formed and destroyed through the power of Ideas. New characters, new questions and old ghosts converge at The Chicago World’s fair for another battle for the power to control the world of ideas. We will present the first draft of ACT 1 (and maybe a bit more) November 17th. Come for a sneak peek and a chance to shape the future.

Layer Cake is part of the Live Girls! Bakery Play Development program dedicated to projects that LG! has already committed to fully produce in the future. We work with each writer or team of writers to develop a workshop plan including public presentations and sneak peeks of the works in progress. Live Girls! takes on 1-2 of these projects at a time and keeps our fans updated about their progress.
