The Secret and Impossible League of the Noösphere in the White City is the second episode in a historical-speculative fiction series developed for Live Girls! theater. The series?follows the adventures of a secret society of extraordinary?historical figures?battling against a dark force dismantling human history. Ada Lovelace, Nicola Tesla, and Kate Warne (the world’s first female detective) have access to a sphere of reality that exists inside Time where reality is formed and destroyed through the power of Ideas.
Building on the success of the first episode “The Baltimore Plot”, playwright Darian Lindle continues to craft the next adventure for the infamous League. “The White City,” is a ghost story where a real-life forgotten woman of history, Madame Helena Blavatsky, is successful in bringing spiritualism onto the national stage. At the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair (The White City), the enigmatic Blavatsky, a powerful medium and spiritual leader with an uncanny connection to the astral plane, discovers a new source of otherworldly power that changes the course of history. Trapped in the White City of the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair and alienated from one another, the league will need the help of an escape artist and a sardonic spirit from beyond the grave to save the Future from the Past and exorcize a desperate ghost.

Layer Cake is part of the Live Girls! Bakery Play Development program dedicated to projects that LG! has committed to develop all the way to a full production.
