2020 CUPCAKE READINGS SUBMISSIONS

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: 2020 CUPCAKE READING SERIES 

Live Girls! Theater in Seattle, Washington is seeking submissions for plays written by womxn, female-identifying, femmes, and non-binary individuals.

We are currently accepting full-length and substantial one-act plays for our Cupcake Reading Series in June of 2020. These plays may have had public readings in the past but not full productions.

The deadline for submissions is March 1, 2020.

Please read the submission guidelines below carefully.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

  • Please send all submissions to submissions@lgtheater.org
  • Please include “SUBMISSION FOR CUPCAKE READINGS 2020” in the subject line of your email.
  • Playwrights may submit up to two plays and should include a brief synopsis of the play along with character descriptions.
  • Plays submitted should be sent as attachments, in MS Word or PDF form.
  • In the body of your email, please introduce yourself and include your preferred pronouns if comfortable.
  • Please include any previous reading or workshop history for plays submitted. You may include a brief bio or resume but it is not required.
  • Please note if you are interested in attending the reading of your play, and if so, any conflicts you have during the second half of June.

We are looking for a wide variety of plays. All styles and subject matters are welcome. Some travel stipends and housing assistance may be available for out of town playwrights.

Deadline for submissions is March 1, 2020. Submissions will receive a reply no later than April 15, 2020.

ABOUT LIVE GIRLS THEATER + CUPCAKE READING SERIES

Live Girls! is a Seattle theater dedicated to producing and developing new work by womxn since 1999.

Returning for 2020 is our Cupcake Reading Series. Live Girls! will pair playwrights with a director for a music stand-style public reading and will provide an honorarium for all involved artists. Our Cupcake Reading Series will showcase a wide variety of genres, stories and writers. Readings will take place during the last two weeks of June, 2020, location TBA.
